All ISAHt members are required to adhere to the following code of ethics.

1. At all times I will act ethically and respectfully to promote a professional relationship with my clients and colleagues.

2. I will take great care and interest in creating a positive and professional environment, which respects the client, their personal values and their purpose for seeing me.
3. I will ensure that my client fully understands the nature of my work before the actual session begins.
4. The financial agreement for the session will be taken care of before the session begins.
5. I will never share any information from any client or session with a third party.  Sessions are completely confidential between my client and me.  Any recordings, etc. will be kept safe, and then destroyed after a specified period of time.
6. I will not let any personal issues come between my client and me. I will be professional at all times, and will acknowledge if I’m not able to succeed in the session.  I will instead postpone the session or refer my client to a qualified colleague.
7. I will accurately identify my qualifications, expertise and experience as a Hypnotherapist. I recognize that it is my responsibility to know my own limitations as a Hypnotherapist, so that my client may be forwarded to a colleague with the required expertise, if necessary.
8. I will do my best to ensure that my client leaves my office in a comfortable, awake and alert state at the end of each session.
9. I will be responsible for setting clear, appropriate, and culturally sensitive boundaries that govern any physical contact that I may have with my clients.  In addition, if there is to be any physical contact, it is my responsibility to verify with the local authorities that it allows the physical contact.
10. I will respect the client’s right to terminate the session at any point during the process. I will be alert to indications that the client is no longer benefiting from the session/program.
11. I will, at all times, publish my valid certificate on my website and in my office, in order to truthfully and accurately display my level of experience, so that my clients may feel confident and find trust in my abilities as their Hypnotherapist.
12. I promise to continue my education as a Hypnotherapist, so that my clients, at all times, will have the most advanced techniques available to them, and to also ensure a high quality of work that profits from new information and breakthroughs in the development of the art and science of hypnosis.
